JQUERY ON A MAC

Hi

Been trying to find how to set up jquery on a mac... its like trying to find a needle in a haystack!
what exactly is it that u need to run jquery - ie

do i need to install Java? a framwork if so what do i need to do?

Any help would be great!!!
