[jQuery] Time for some sort of forum?
Personally, a forum would be great for those who wish to help others with
"How do I do this?" type of questions, and move the development related
stuff to the mailing list. It's a bit tough going through 200 post digests,
especially with the level of quotes that come into play. There's nothing
wrong with the newbie questions, as long as we have people who wouldn't mind
spending some time to answer those questions. It also makes JQuery look like
a much more active project with active support behind it.
I say restrict the ML to dev work only and open up a message board for
general questions. Make this abunduntly clear, taking action if neccecary by
booting people from the ML.
Alternatively, perhaps forum software can be chosen that will e-mail people
per post? (for example, make a category for development work, and people who
want that will subscribe to it, and have the posts pushed towards them) sort
of like a hybrid ML/BB.
If we continue like this, the ML will be innudated with these types of
questions, and overall, the project's development would hurt. Separating the
general chatter and help me questions away from the development is the best
thing that could be done right now.
