[jQuery] Upload

I am trying to scope out a project for my company. As a demo of our
capability we want users to be able to upload photos to our site and
then be able to submit them to us for processing.
I would like to be able to display the image when they upload and then
display a copy of the image after it is edited next to the original.
Is this possible to do with jquery or do i need to use something else.
