[jQuery] Using $ symbol to access jQuery function


Hi,
I am not sure What I'm doing wrong, but accessing jQuery function using a $
symbol doesn't work.
For example, ${document}.ready(function().... gives me an error "missing ;
before statement".
The same works when I use jQuery(document).read(function().... I've tried
both JQuery1.2 and 1.1
