keeping the slider value

Hi
I created a slider like the side-scroll slider, but instead of numbers I have years (1990 -2010, it's like a timeline) and each year returns a set of results in a separate div. My question is how can I retain the slider position after the year is clicked on. It currently jumps back to the left (1990).
