Menu "delay" design

Hi, I'm building a simple menu that pops up when hovering over a link. Things work pretty well my only issue is when scrolling over the link quickly the menu appears and disappears causing an annoying flicker. Most other menus don't seem to do that. My question is about the "best" way to fix this? Is there a common pattern used?
