Hi there.  I hope this is the right place to ask this and sorry if it's been asked many times before (I did try and have a look).

 

Q1.) I am looking at using a top horizontal navigation menu like http://www.johnlewis.com/ and wondered if there were any real downsides at using it on a large global level? I assume it only functions if java is installed so would restrict those users who don't? Also, not sure if it works on mobile devices like bb's?

 

Q2.) Would you regard that type of navigation as Doormat navigation.  I thought doormat navigation was where navigation is fully laid out on the page already with the subcategories on display and didn't require the user to hover over to force the animation?

 

Any guidance would really help me out and be hugely appreciated. Kind regards
