Need help with lavalamp

Hi, I have just played around with lavalamp and finally got it close to my liking.. Now my menu is multi-dimensional and the following background also attatches itself to the child elements... Is there a way just to keep it locked onto the top elems only? so it only affects the parent UL LI tags and not any children UL LI tags?
