Newbie Question, disable UI style for tabs only?

Hi,
I don't really like the tabs ui style, but the rest is good. How do I
disable the styling on the tabs, but leave it in other elements such
as calendar widgets?
If I just remove the tab specific elements out of the stylesheet,
there is still the base containers which affect the tab appearence.
Any help much appreciated.
