not working selector after element update

hello,

i have problem with selector. maybe not problem but i just don't know exactly how jquery works:)

i have jquery code which highlights <p> elements with specific class. everything works ok but if i update elemet with content including tag <p>, highlighting doesnt work. can you hlep me please?
