I am looking for a plugin to display notifications in a fixed position. I'll use it as an add-in, and I don't have control on the original Web page where the plugin will be placed. So an essential requirement is that the plugin be compatible with various doctypes, including quirks mode.

 

Do you have any recommendation?

 

I tried Meerkat, but it didn't work well when I tested it in quirks mode. I am considering Gritter and jGrowl, and I'd be interested in a comparison between the two.

 

I have also tried linking the position to the window scrollbar, but I don't like the repositioning effect. I'd prefer a real fixed position.
