Hoping you can help with my query

I'm using Dialog on my website which displays a form. Once a user has either submitted the details / clicked on the X, I don't want this box to pop up again if the same user visits the website again. 

How would I go about this? I've read about cookies, but how would I actually code this? 

Any direction would be much appreciated
