Saving Indicator

Hello everyone. Trying to figure out the best way to indicate a save function has been called and non obtrusively let the end user know (think Google docs 'Saved at 5:31 am' type of thing) for our app ShiftZen.com . Part of the trick is that it is inside of a .net user control. Any advice before I start to tackle?
