Setting text on drop down list by his value.

Hi to everybody,
I need your help because I have problem to set a text on drop down list giving his value.
This is my select:
<select id ="quadri">
      <option value='1'>I° Quadrimestre</option>
      <option value='3'>II° Quadrimestre </option> 
</select>

When I select the 2nd option I refresh the page and I would like to refresh my select as well.
