shapeshift plugin: how to use

I need to have a page which looks like this ( http://mcpants.github.io/jquery.shapeshift/ ). What will break down for a novice ( used python but not jquery) to have it run successfully.

I am querying a list from database and want to throw it in a container ( like in link above ) and have user throw selective in the other container and do operations on selected ones.
