slider with fixed end

Hi all,
I'm looking to create a slider using the wonderful and amazing jQuery
but with one side of the slider fixed, so that as you move the slider,
the space between an edge and the slider is filled with a certain
colour.
Can someone enlighten me as to how this may be done?
