Sortable position help

Hi,
I'm creating a sortable list that I'm struggling with. The problem is that
this list requires slightly different functionality where certain items need
to stay in the same position, while items are sorted around it. For example,
if i want an item in a sortable list to be anchored in the third position,
it must always stay in that third position. All other sortable items must be
able to sort around it. If an item below the third item gets dragged above,
then whatever is in the second position must be sorted down to the fourth
position.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
