Sortable with limitation of elements or number of characters ?

For a certain number of rows and/or number of characters, it is not possible for me to insert elements between the first elements. Therefore, exist limitations for the number of characters or the number of elements for the sortable functionality? For my application are sortable implemented within sortable. Or perhaps is this not allowed? An example I have realized in jsFiddle .
