superfish: change color of parent active menu item

Hi all,
I'm using the superfish menu and am very happy with it. I have a little problem: I can't find the way to change the color of a menu item that has sub items.
I've tried playing around with the css for hours but couldn't figure it out how to set only this one. I also want that when the submenu shows that both the parent active item to highlight as well as the current submenu item.
