supersized (backgrounds) and fancybox

it's wordpress, and this page shows a supersized slide show
then thumbs fade through each image, and the full sized image is linked to a page
what i need to do is have the link from the full size image load the target in a fancybox
i've hacked the supersize js so it adds the fancybox class to the links, but they are not loading in fancybox, just loading the page itself
can anyone see what i'm doing wrong?
