Thickbox - A lightweight alternative

I really love this photogallery plugin called Galleriffic ( http://www.twospy.com/galleriffic/example-2.html ).
The problem is I would like it to open in a popup similar to the way that thickbox does. I was thinking I could use a thickbox-like plugin to open this in, but I don't want to bog the browsers down with jquery plugins.
