ui-li-aside causes truncation

Usiing <span class="ui-li-aside"> in a list causes the main text to be cut off with ellipses (see "clothing and..." below). This is OK but it seems to do it unneccessarily - there is a huge gap between the elipsis and the side text. In a browser like Firefox it is not truncated - the text will overlap if minimised enough but in Safari and on my Nexus one it displays the truncating behaviour.

Any ideas?
