URGENT: superfish menu going under a simplegallery slideshow

If I change the simplegallery's div (simplegallery1) to have a z-index of anything it disappears completely and shows no slideshow - just a blank spot.
Oh, and by the way - my client is on their way to a conference TONIGHT...
