I went to demos.jquerymobile.com and picked the selectmenu widget / custom select menu / data-placeholder.

When displaying it on chrome browser on my desktop it looks good, but when displaying it on my phone using PhoneGap for iphone there are 4 characters that are appearing above the selec menu (AAAA is displaying) 

Has anybody had this issue before? How to solve?
