[jQuery] how to write a fixed position floating/slide-able pane?
hi all! As a happy user of jquery, I would like to thank you all developers of jquery! It do make the javascript programming sexy again :-) Here is my question, I'm trying to implement this in our project: 1. a fixed position (relative to browser's viewport) pane stays on the left of the browser, showing a small click-able bar 2. if the page is long, when user scrolls the page, the pane follows 3. when the user clicks the click-able bar, the pane slide in from the left into the center and shows contents
[jQuery] Accordion Requirements
I've done a bunch of Accordion implementations for various projects, but never codified them into a single plugin. I suspect it could be done with much less code than some of the existing implementations. [jQuery] Links to Plugins
Hi all, I've been collecting links that people have posted about various plugins that they are developing over the past month or so. Sorry this is not in a more organized form. I have attached an HTML version of it. I'm sure I have missed some, I haven't bothered to list those in SVN plugins. Please send me a link off list if you have plugins that I haven't listed here. I will try to get these better organized and add the list to the wiki or elsewhere. It would be ideal if these were added to a contrib

[jQuery] Writing documentation, jQuery style?
Is there some documentation describing the metatags within the jQuery documentation? I want to write some documentation for a project at work but in the jQuery style. Also, are there any handy tools out there to turn this jQuery documentation into something more readable? It'd be nice to have some basic HTML pages or something that is the JavaDoc-style. [jQuery] Spam problem in bugs
Hi, I noticed there is a spam problem in the bug tracking system. Two enhancement requests I've submitted have been spammed: http://jquery.com/dev/bugs/bug/342/ http://jquery.com/dev/bugs/bug/344/ At least one of these (#342) is a feature I really need, and I'm starting to worry that it (and other tickets) are going to get ignored - could the site be changed to force a login before submitting/changing stuff (maybe using the mailing-list email and password)? [jQuery] New jQuery plug - selectBox
Hi, The other day i started working with a new client, our designer wanted to use sucker fish type of menus. In the design select boxes are a common element due to the fact that this is a e-commerce website. Only one thought came to mind, Iframes.... So i started thinking, there must be a better way. And from those thought comes my latest jquery plugin - selectbox. This is what it does: It hooks right on your existing select element. Hides it and appends some div elements and a list, allowing you
[jQuery] return this.each
Thanks for the help Mike, it's starting to come together. I've been testing it just now. If I do use return this.each() then how do I reference the jQuery methods? without this.hover() etc? Obviously as this is no longer what I am expecting this.hover (as you say) fails. So do I use my 'self' variable or another way? I thought I saw someone just using .hover() (without any prefix) but this just fails. I don't fully understand the difference, currently I don't use any dom methods I just use jQuery

[jQuery] Using PlotKit with jQuery
Hi, I searched the mailing list at Nabble as well as Google without getting any answers. So here goes... I tried to get PlotKit (along with MochiKit) to work with jQuery but it screws up jQuery when I include MochiKit's DOM file (I tried progressively including one MochiKit file at a time). I see that John Resig uses PlotKit on his own site but, being the newbie js person that I am, I couldn't figure out what he'd done special to integrate it with jQuery. Anyone have any info on this? Thanks, Chris.
[jQuery] Help make Thickbox talk to an iframe
I'm using a Thickbox iframe to display HTML pages containing Flash movies. The thickbox appears on top of other Flash elements (buttons) contained in another iframe. I find that on some computers, the Flash underneath shows through the Flash in the thickbox (I'm guessing this is because the computer's video card isn't up to the job). So, I thought it would be a good idea to make the button swfs in the iframe invisible after thickbox is called. This works fine: function playSwf(myURL, W, H, title){

[jQuery] Plugin Docs
There's been a good number of plugins added to Visual jQuery recently by virtue of them getting documented in the svn. I encourage any plugin authors whose stuff is in the svn but not yet documented to do so. Just one point: The @cat of any plugin should be Plugins/PluginName (like Plugins/Interface or Plugins/Metadata). <br clear="all"> -- Yehuda Katz Web Developer | Wycats Designs (ph) 718.877.1325 _______________________________________________ jQuery mailing list discuss@jquery.com http://jquery.com/discuss/
