If you can figure out the size of your content, you can do something like this:
$("#myDiv").dialog({
  open: function() { $(this).data("width.dialog", width + 60).data("height.dialog", height + 60); }
});
Not perfect, as you'll have to add a bit to each to account for the extra dimensions of the dialog around the content. I just picked 60 out of the air. That number will depend on the theme.

Wow, that's really lame.  You'd think the dialog could do this automatically with a method. 

a) check the size of the "content"
b) adjust the surrounding dialog size, accounting for margins and whatnot

Other than hard-coding *all* sizes everywhere, I can't get the dialog to synch up with its contents.  I *must* be doing something wrong.

I ran into this problem as well.  From what I can tell, the issue is mainly left-to-right and the fact there is no easy way to change the left-to-right dimensions "after" the dialog has been initialized.

If you initialize the box before there is content (ie: ajax content), then it has no idea how big the content is that is coming down the wire.

This is what I put into my ajax sucess loop:

1. success: function(data){
               $(divId).html(data);
               var divWidth = $(divId).width() * 1.1;
               $(divId).dialog({
                   width: divWidth
               }).siblings(".ui-dialog-titlebar").hide();
           }
   

So, ajax gets the data and puts it into the div.

We then get the width of the div and add 10% to it.

Then run dialog and set the width.

The only issue I ran into with this is that closing / reopening the div caused problems ... so I used "destroy" instead, since I really want my divId to be reset to factor defaults when dialog is closed anyways.

i have the same case, i use a wizard user control inside the dialog and the pages of the wizard are of different sizes.


i've seen an auto-resize controls over the net, i think Telerik has something like that.
