Beginning jQuery - help needed ! serious advices needed ...

hy,

I'm learning jQuery - Evgeny Popov(video lessons 2010 year), if you know. It's Russian programmer, very good in his work! explains everything perfect..

He wrote his video lessons in 2010, when jQuery current version was 1.4. and during this course he uses old codes of course(couse-jQuery version 1.4).. and he sets up old plugins like 3d carousel- professorcloud.com/mainsite/carousel.htm , which doesn't work if you don't have **Migrate Plugin** on your page... that is a problem, I want to study jQuery on Professional level,Time to Time of course,but there are some problems, I'm trying to solve them minimum 7 days, but nothing good yet...

Some poeple give advices like :

Don't use Migrate Plugin,

Upgrade your Code,

Upgrade jQuery to latest version..

I don't know what to do, if I upgrade my code, where Can I find modern pluggins or tutorials which will help me to study jQuery, Couse it developes every 1-2 month??

To use interactive learning use http://try.jquery.com It is up to date as far as I know and is well maintained.

Most developers pick a version of jQuery to work with and only upgrade if the newer version offers something that they need. That way you can standardize on plugins and only upgrade when absolutely necessary. Once a version is chosen only bug fixes are installed - for instance 1.9.n

A lot of times it is dependent on the project. As you learn you will get a feel for what you should do, which versions and plugins you will need.

it was the best answer ever for me on this qustion. now I understand, I will upgrade my jQuery version when it be required, And it's not bad if I use old versions, It doesn't make any problem, Agree with me?

Using older versions do not hurt anything if your site is using features that the older version supports. As long as it is stable you do not need to make any changes.

I always encourage everyone to look at newer versions for newer projects to keep up with new features and enhanced code. There is a certain madness in trying to make sure that all of your projects use the same version of the library, especially if you have a large number of projects.
