checked button on off depending on a result

Hi,

I have created a on-off button with the following code. Now I want to make it switch from on to off when a value is read I am using these options: $('#red').attr('checked','checked'); to check it and uncheck it $('#red').removeAttr('checked'); but nothing changes.Have you got any ideas?

$("input[type=checkbox]").switchButton({ width: 100, height: 40, button_width: 70 });

 "<input id=\"red\" name=\"red\" type=\"checkbox\" value=\"1\" checked>"

Checked used to be an attr. But now it’s a prop. It changed with jQuery 1.6.

I use 1.10.2 jquery "<script src=\"http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.2/jquery-ui.js\"></script>"

so you reccomend to try this:

$('#red').prop('checked','true');

$('#red').prop('checked','false');

Try…

$('#red').prop('checked', true );

$('#red').prop('checked', false);

Due to the switchbutton plugin I was using at first it was imposiible to make it work. So I changed it to a simple checkbox but it goes on not responding I will write down the code.Do you think I am mistaken somewhere?

I have no idea why you are putting every thing in quotes. What does that create for the browser? I would code something like this…

$.get("http://192.168.100.x/xxx/xxxx",function (led_status) {
$('#red').prop('checked', parseInt(led_status,10) == 1 )
})

The quotes are because I am using a microcontroller and I use both C and HTML in the same IDE using the P macro (it does not have anything to do with the problem)

obviously you mean that the function

parseInt(led_status,10) == 1

will return 'true' so then it will be checked and if it is 0 it will be false so it wont check it .I run it without the if I wrote before following your advice but no result still

Time for you to do some debugging.

Is #red still a checkbox?

Are there syntax errors?

Does the ajax call actually return a simple number?

yes red is still a checkbox

and the ajax call back return either 0 or 1 I checked again

thanks for the advice anyway

can I ask sth is it necessary to add a timer for the get function so that it takes again and again the values from the url? maybe that s the problem...but from a quick glance no
