Could this be possible with jQuery and CSS?

Hi I want to create a web gui which can connect elements together visually and you can show the data flow and connect between the nodes manually.

The image below shows what I mean sorry it is crude. but it demonstrates what I would like to do, which is create a number of nodes and join them together. (if you have ever used a visual scripting language like any of those systems)

What I am asking is, is this possible? and does anyone know of anyone who has worked with anything like this before?

No. But only the red lines are not possible with jQuery & CSS alone.

The boxes would be drag & drop divs.

The red lines would probably be done with <canvas>. Straight and angled lines might be cobbled together with simple images, but the curved ones would be a lot of code playing with canvas.

Straight and angled lines can be done with css fairly easily (1px tall div tags with borders/backgrounds and css3 transforms to get the angled lines; the math isn't that difficult). See: http://monkeyandcrow.com/blog/drawing_lines_with_css3/

curves with just css would be really rough; you could use the borders of a div tag and use the css3 border radius (see http://www.css3.info/preview/rounded-border/)
