Determine browser / version in 1.9, now that .browser is removed.

Hello Forum –

– I know that browser sniffing is taboo, and feature detection should be used instead – and yet, my favorite browser, Internet Explorer, sucks at animating png transparency, and I want to be able to create a clause that would let me handle it differently in Explorer.

Other than using earlier jQuery versions, what could be the solution?
