That's what threw me off at first. If you want to comment after someone else, you have to scroll up to the top-level post to add your reply. A comment button on each post would be great, even if they only nest one level deep.

@mikebranski: Thanks for your suggestion. We thought, placing a comment button on each post may confuse the users as generally they would expect it to be a multi level thread. We will think through this again & prioritize it.
