The description on that wiki page describes the current slider implementation. As mentioned in the GSoC wiki , we want to rewrite this widget, including a redesign of the API. Starting with a prototype seems like a good idea to me. You could also draft up a new API based on the existing spec, the implementation in jQuery Mobile and the suggestions on the ideas list (multiple widgets instead of just one).

Nice work, that looks pretty promising! There's a lot to review and discuss here, which should probably happen as part of the actual GSoC project. How about you write your proposal (see also https://github.com/jquery/gsoc/issues/1), where you'd reference your wiki page. Let me know when you have a draft for the proposal, I can review that pretty quickly.

That looks good! The specifics of the schedule aren't that important, the point is mostly to think through it and consider the various issues. You can submit this as-is through the official GSoC site. Or if you want to put a bit more time into it (not required): Remove the mention of SliderTrack, since that is specific to your draft, but as I mentioned above, that might not be what we end up implementing.
