Asking related to black background which comes on startup you can use splashscreen plugin of phonegap it uses fixed size images

jQuery Mobile can't help with this.

(If you solve it with JQM, you will be very wealthy, since you will have invented a time machine!)

Splash screen occurs before JQM is ever started.

I'd suggest asking on a PhoneGap/Cordova forum.
