HTMLAREA and Validation

I am trying to use the validation plugin with http://remiya.com/htmlbox/index.php/9/demo/full-featured-demo.html and am running into an issue. When submitting the form with nothing in it, it will place the error label after the required textarea but will not remove it once you begin typing, only on the form submission.

Suggestions?
