Use F12 mode to see why IE is complaining.

Running the site in IE and using F12 Network tab (captured traffic)..  shows:

1. Lots of css loading up front..
   
2. jQuery itself (jquery-2.1.1.js) loads
   
3. jquery.ui.base.css loaded, along with a lot of other jQuery css.

In the Console..


These errors seem to be in the jQuery (or at least what IE cant seem to work with).  I'm running in compatibility mode also..

in your last image, the first line says that you TOLD it to run in compatibility mode.  

I have tried it both ways and there is no difference.

The compatibility mode does not change anything as far as I can tell.

What I had was not really a problem with the version of jQuery.  The problem was the fiddling around with the "Compatibility" mode settings inside my IE.

I've run it both with jQuery (version 2.1.1.1) and with jQuery (version 1.11.1)  both will work with the asp.net application.  I cleared out all of the compatibility settings in my tools and then also make sure that I had only one option for the compatibility..

That is the radio button under IE 9 for "Include updated website lists from Microsoft" as the only item checked.
