Images Folder Missing

I'm trying to setup a new JQM project and have downloaded the latest stable CSS and js files for JQuery Mobile 1.4.3 and jquery 1.11.1. When I load my page, I get an error message on the console that it's unable to load the ajax-loader.gif file. It's looking for the images folder, but there's none to download.

I've come across this before, so I know I need to download the full jQuery Mobile package and copy over the images folder, but why does the download page make no reference to this? It tells me I can download the CSS file (all ready for production) or I can use the CDN files, but nothing about needing this images folder.

Why is that?

My page isn't working even after I copy over the images folder. My header buttons are rectangular (rather than with rounded corners as expected) and my back button doesn't appear on any pages even though I've added data-add-back-btn="true" to every page div.

I've compared my app to another I created using an older version of jQM and there's no differences except for the versions of the jQM files.

If you want to host the files yourself you can download a zip of all the files :

The images folder is in the .zip. I just verified that it is, indeed, present.

Right, I know it's in the zip file, but it seems from the instructions on the downloads page that I don't need it. It says I can download the CSS file and the js files I need and away I go: from the downloads page "(full library, ready to deploy) " No mention of needing the images folder exist.

I've tried extracting download and adding the images folder to my project and it finds the image it needs, but the page still doesn't render correctly. My header button is not themed nor does the back button appear on any of my sub pages. Even the page doesn't get themed correctly. Something else is going on.

There really are no 'instructions' on the downloads page. It tells me I can download the css and javascript files or the full archive then shows me how to add references to the CSS files and JavaScript files to my project. No mention of the images folder. For the archive, no mention anywhere of what each of the files in the archive are for. It's basically bereft of details one would need to actually implement anything.

Again, I've tried copying the images folder in with no change in behavior.

Well, now you have a different problem. It sounds like you don't have any CSS or you've placed the CSS in the wrong place or wrong file name.

Did you use your browser's inspection tools to take a look and see if the CSS file is being loaded and applied?

If you can post a link to your site or to an example page, we can likely tell you what you have done wrong.

You're right that the documentation is poor. Unfortunately, the writers of the documentation apparently think that it is now so good that it no longer needs a FAQ and a "getting started" doc, and I've been unable to convince them otherwise. Too bad, because the FAQ would be a great place for this...

Most of the 1.3.2 FAQs are still valid, however:

It doesn't cover where to put your files. The "getting started" docs for previous versions would not be correct for 1.4.x, however. There are various CSS files in the .zip you can choose from.

Unless you know what you are doing and have a good reason to do otherwise, just use the default, jquery.mobile-1.4.3-min.css
