iPhone has JS execution exceeded timeout
in Using jQuery

I have quite a bit of text only data loading from a mysql database via php which I am then hiding via JQuery.
My site is due a revamp and is pretty old in implementation, and as the text grows each week it has started to slow a little as it loads the page and then does the JQuery magic which is not great but tolerable but my iPhone 3GS has Javascript execution exceeded timeout error and so the page never finishes loading and is busted :(
Not sure where to start and am not looking to re-engineer or create mobile version yet as redesign will come this summer, any pointers for a temp fix would be gratefully received.
