@Dan: That's a very good idea. Thanks for the suggestion!
@Alexandre: The plugin adds codebase and pluginspage attrs to the
object/embed elements so I think that's covered.
@Rob: I'm not sure if there is a benefit to satay or not . The
referenced article is specific to Flash but I'm supporting many other
media types as well. It's an interesting idea though and worth
looking into. In fact, MS implements its Silverlight component with
object tags only.

I know it's early, but one comment:
for embedding PDF, works on my Mac in Safari, but Firefox demands to
either save the PDF or open it with another application. (Sorry,
don't know if this is a known issue or not!)
