jQuery for jPlayer - Playlist

Hey Guys,
I'm trying to do a little something different with jPlayer using jQuery.
Basically I have a jPlayer setup pulling its playlist from a XML file.
The playlist is 24 hours long and with each track allocated a time of day in another field.
What I want is to have the player begin from the point on the playlist that closest matches the current time.
Can anyone think of a way to do this using jQuery?
I have a developer who says its no problem and can use the users computer time, but if its something simple I rather do it myself rather than play a couple hundred euro.
Any advice is massively appreciated!
