JQuery Load - Limiting the amount of Text

Hi,

I'm fairly new to JQuery and wanted some help using the 'Load' function.

I have created a fairly simple staff directory and as you can see there is a brief snippet of text for each academic, which links to their full profile.

I am wanting to use JQuery Load to pull the content from each staff members page and show it in the staff directory (replacing the static text that is currently there). This will mean that the staff directory should effectively maintain itself, updating automatically when each staff profile page is updated.

What I want to know is - Is there a way of restricting the amount of text that is is 'pulled' across from one page to another? I only want say the first 30 words of the staff profile, with a 'read more' link each academic's full profile.

Can anyone help?
