jQuery mobile version upgrade breaks the CSS styles.

I am working on upgrading jquery mobile in html pages from v1.3.2 to v1.4.5. However, this upgrade is breaking the CSS styles, colors. This is a major problem because the customer is expecting just the version upgrade and no change in display.

This upgrade changes the themes(color) and few other things. Please observe the differences in the attachments section.

Can someone help me on this?

There were many changes between 1.3.2 and 1.4.5. You can’t just use the old CSS. It has to be rewritten. As does much of the HTML and jQuery code.

That was the good news. The bad news is that nobody is working on jQuery Mobile any longer. Most users have moved on to other frameworks or vanilla javaScript.

Okay. Will follow your suggestion as is.

Also, I came across this upgrade guide https://jquerymobile.com/upgrade-guide/1.4/ to upgrade jquery mobile from 1.3 to 1.4.

If I am not wrong I believe these changes are to be put in the HTML code to be compatible with 1.4.

Please let me know your thoughts on making use of the upgrade guide.

That’s a guide. It’s probably as good as you will get. There were a lot of questions on this forum about how to upgrade when 1.4.x was released. But that was some 6 years ago. Few people remember or care about how upgrades were done so long ago.

Since I haven’t any idea how complex or simple your site was, I can’t definitely tell you to follow the guide and upgrade, or to start all over with a different code base.

PS I’ve abandoned JQM except for 2 complex sites. And they being rewritten or are in the queue to rewrite.
