jQuery timeout?

I'm not sure if timeout is the right word, but I've been developing sites for a while now and know there is a tool to stop this:
If you hover over the services tab loads of times - like in and out, in and out, jQuery takes each one as an event and keeps doing the animation. If someone is doing that kind of thing, is there some sort of function in jQuery to stop it? I've seen it been done before and have found other websites with the same effects but they have something to stop it from happening so it's all nice and smooth.
Any help would be great, thanks.
