jQuery UI 1.8 adds a new function, $.fn.zIndex, which is used by datepicker to control its positioning.  I've checked the demo pages and download builder, and they include this function and don't seem to have the problem you describe.  Is it possible that you are using an old version of jquery.ui.core.js somewhere on your page?

Since I only wanted the the "Datepicker" widgets I unchecked everything and just selected that to download. Usually when you deselect all and pick the components you wanted it will select any other required one.

It seems to me that the 1.8rc3 released requires additional component (I don't know which) where as 1.7.2 does not.

I was able to get the datepicker to work when I download all 30 components.

Looks like the download builder isn't adding dependencies correctly any more.  If you deselect all, then select Datepicker, it doesn't select Core.  Hopefully the infrastructure team is watching this and will get it fixed.

For the time being, just make sure you have Core and Datepicker checked.
