jQuery UI - Is this library EOL?

I have had an exhausting time searching for answers as to the state of the jQuery UI library. The github shows activity, but there does not appear to have been a release since 2012 with the release of the 1.12 version. So I have a few questions that perhaps the community could help answer for me.

Why have none of the github changes been released as updates?
Has this library been discontinued?
If it has been discontinued, was there a specific reason no notice was given?

@jakecigar,

While I appreciate the link to the blog, I had already read it before posting. My questions still remain as that post does not actually explain what the actual status of the library.

the blog post suggests that jQueryUI would be updated and shipped accordingly with jQueryMobile, but the lack of any updates to the jQueryUI library since that blog post in 2017 shows that is not actually the case. I would have expected to see updates, even minor, released as to support the blog posts intentions.

That’s all we have to go by. Any software that goes 5 years without updates should be considered EOL DEAD.
