jquery-ui sortable 4 cols - how can I save?

Hi,
I am looking for some suggestions, I have 4 cols and the users can sort elements from one col to the others.
What would be the best way to save the items in col1, col2, col3 and then col4.
I know how to get all the items in the right order, but then I don't know if they where in col1, 2, 3 or all in col 4.
