Hi Brian,
I am having the same issue. Did you figure out what the problem was?

I am having exactly the same problem. The tabs doesn't change their
color once they are selected. Neither nothing happens when the mouse
hovers over the tabs.
Any clue?

Notice three key pieces
- jQuery UI Theme including ui.core.css, ui.theme.css, ui.tabs.css (@import-ed with ui.all.css in this case)
- jQuery 1.3
- jQuery UI 1.6rc5

- for the first point, the three files are included in the theme, but
in the ui.all.css there are these three imports:
@import "ui.core.css";
@import "ui.theme.css";
@import "ui.allplugins.css";
- I use jquery1.3, though I have also tried with jquery1.2.6 in case
there was any problem with 1.3 (as jquery1.2.6 is the one who are in
iu.jquery1.5.3)
- I have just tried using jQuery UI 1.6rc5 and it just worked!
