jQueryUI - Tabs

Ok, I have just started messing with the UI of jQuery. I get how a tab can make a div (at the same level as the tabs/menu) invisible/visible. That is simple. But how do I make a tab, or subtab for that matter, target or control visibility of a div that is not within that 'menu/tab' div, but is somewhere else on the html page?
