Jump to top of page before dialog box commences
in jQuery Mobile

I'm using JQuery on an iPod touch. When I test the dialogs, the page first jumps to the top of the page before showing the dialog. Hitting the X to close the dialog, the top of the page shows, then jumps down to the place which had the dialog link.
is there a way to keep the page from jumping up and down?
