Keyboard plugin optimized for touch screen

I need some kind of plugin that pops up an on screen keyboard, similar to what an iPad does with text fields.
This plugin obviously has to be browser-based, and preferably supports multiple keyboard layouts (qwerty, azerty, ...).
I know that there are loads of on screen keyboards out there, but mine has to be optimized for usage on touch screens. I've tried developing one myself, but I find the 'click' event on a link or button not responsive enough when used on a touch interface.
