Make this forum the official forum for jQuery?

How does everyone feel about this?
If it was to happen, here is what would change:
I'd like to hear what everyone has to say, or any questions you might have.[/list]

- The forum would become forum.jquery.com
- The look and feel would change to match that of jquery.com
- Participation would most likely increase dramatically

I am definitely for this. One of the biggest challenges this forum faces is not having enough people to answer questions; there's certainly a good number asking (which is good).
Not everyone likes mailing lists, and not everyone likes forums. I think it's crucial to provide multiple options for people seeking help when it's feasible to do so.

the domain is a nice touch, but i think the largest challenge would be the current userbase. perhaps having jquery actually link to us instead of their shotty 'discussion' would help out. have you proposed it to them? :p

I'm all for it! The number of users (especially of helpers) here is quite small and the helpfulness of this forum suffers from it. Making this something official is a great idea.
When changing the look&feel, be sure to finally get rid of that uppercase 'J' in 'JQueryHelp'.

That should change with the new design. chrysb lost the Photoshop file for that logo a long time ago.

Well, that's a resounding 'Yes' then!
Moderators will have the option of remaining moderators, it's part of the agreement.
Speaking of, let's all give Mike Branski a round of applause. I credit him for the growth of this forum to where it is now, and also a thanks to mconway who came on later to help Mike with the load of questions. It wouldn't have been possible without them.
I will keep everyone posted as to when the migration will happen.

Good for you guys. But I would recommend a vBulletin install if your going to take this site main stream.

Any specific reasons why you recommend vBulletin? I remember it not always being easy or intuitive to use.

We're going to start with phpbb2 and upgrade to phpbb3. It's the easiest transition.
